Clay Body Rosy Mauve
18 x 4cm Part of the Clay Bodies collection. This piece has been hand made by Eve Finlay Miller. This is one of one from the Clay Bodies Velvet series. Made from stoneware clay. Glazed with Amaco with a velvet finish. Every piece from this collection of extruded clay is completely unique. They have their own individual characteristics from when they have been placed into the fire, meaning the areas of the glaze coverage is not uniform and no two are the same. They have been created at Eve Finlay Millers artists practice and are one of a kind. Will not be sold again in this design. Clay Bodies Series by Eve Finlay Miller is a piece of work that uses clay to create unique sculptural forms. The sculptures are bodies exposed to pressure and movement. The material of clay symbolises the human using a material that is from the Earth before becoming something that has been designed in another’s image. She has used the process of extruding clay to represent this process of pushing and manipulating, perhaps of birth itself. External forces form and deform the perfect extrusion just as we are shaped and moulded by the events of our lives. Eve Finlay Miller has created a series of clay sculptures that each stand alone but, like ourselves, also have a context as part of a group. You can buy your piece to enjoy as an individual sculpture, or find others from the collection to accompany each other. When you add to your collection, the works create a pattern that draws the viewer’s eye to the sensual curves of the clay. The various heights and levels complement the environment around them, and give a meaning and static grounding to the point in the room where they have been placed. On purchasing a Clay Body you will receive a printed leaflet telling you about the work. Each piece is imperfect in its form, entirely made by the artists hand. Please note: Photos are only indicative. Each item is 100% handmade meaning that they may have characteristics of glaze not being consistent, with thicker areas and areas without glaze. Each item may differ slightly.
